They built about 300 of them and there were 4WD & FWD versions. He also made a hybrid version. Amazing that 112 years later Wheel motors still aren’t in mass production. The rest of the energy is lost to engine and driveline inefficiencies and idling. Therefore, the potential to improve fuel efficiency with advanced technologies is enormous.
