Question by mssucks: Can I pay off an EQUITY loan with an unsecured loan prior to filing bankruptcy?
We got a residence equity loan in June to consolidate credit card bills, another property equity line, and little construction loan. Issues had been fine till I was recently diagnosed with numerous sclerosis and declared disabled. I get social security, which is currently 1-half of my former salary, but only till my children graduate when it will drop to one-third. We now understand that we can’t pay for my graduate school loan (basic bank loan-not federal), the automobile loan, the equity loan, AND the property first mortgage. You can re-afirm the mortgages. If a company finds out that you borrowed to then file a bk, then you might have to pay it any way. Speak with your atty about this course of action
